SIMI VALLEY, California – The Soaring Spirits Team has been working hard to make Camp Widow more accessible by lowering costs and expanding the locations where we offer this unique and vital program and we’ve landed on a new concept we’ll be rolling out in 2025!
Camp Widow’s New Model
Inspired by the concept of restaurant pop-ups, we will be debuting a new more accessible model called “Camp Widow Pop-ups”. These one-day events will be offered in various locations, multiplying opportunities for connection and doubling the impact of our program.
Starting in 2025, this new model will replace our traditional weekend-long events, making the program more accessible by lowering costs and offering events across the country.
Will I still have a chance to attend a weekend long program?
Yes, the last U.S. weekend-long events will be held in 2024 in the following locations:
- Tampa, March 15-17, 2024
- San Diego, July 19-21, 2024
Our international partners are considering their next steps, and all 2024 events will proceed as scheduled.
- Brisbane, Australia, May 24-26, 2024.
- Toronto, Canada, November 8-10, 2024.
Why is Soaring Spirits making this change to Camp Widow?
This evolution not only aligns with our mission but is also responsive to changes that many people in our community have been asking for. In a recent survey, our community noted cost and location as the two top factors that influenced whether they had attended a Camp Widow event. This change allows us to reach more widowed individuals and reduce event costs. Plus, the overwhelming majority of respondents said that they would be interested in attending a Camp Widow Pop-up. In short, you asked and we are excited to deliver.
Where can I sign up for the 2024 weekend long events?
Please visit campwidow.org for more information and to register.
Where will Camp Widow go in 2025?
We’re thrilled to take Camp Widow on the road, and are tentatively planning to come to these cities in 2025:
- Seattle, Washington;
- Houston, Texas;
- Chicago, Illinois; and
- Washington D.C.!
Whether you’ve been a longtime attendee or are considering joining us for the first time, we hope you will join us in 2024 as we celebrate the impact of the Camp Widow program, and embrace the exciting changes that will allow us to welcome more campers than ever before.
