Rides

The ride was VERY well organized and I loved all the colored arrows on the road to remind us when to turn.

Century Challenge, Metric Century, Half Century, & 25 Mile City Tour

Century 100 Miles

Our Century route travels around Simi Valley, then through our neighboring communities of Moorpark, Somas and Camarillo. This is a tough, but scenic route that will leave your legs certain that they’ve done some work!

MTB/Gravel Challenge Route

Start time: 7:45am

This is a 40 mile mixed surface ride (Street and Fire Road) that will challenge the most athletic and experienced riders due to the punchy climbs including the Runkle Wall to Albertsons Fire Road (10% -14 % grade). This route incorporates a sample of trails in Simi Valley including the Big Sky Trail network, Tapo Canyon trail, Chivo Canyon trail, Runkle Canyon Fire Road, Albertson Fire Road, and the East Long Canyon Fire Road. Of the 40 mile route, approximately 17 miles are on dirt fire roads.

All riders will be expected to be self-sufficient on the dirt portion of this ride. This means you will carry all individual items (Nutrition, Hydration, clothing, bike repair items, ETC) for up to 12 miles between the aid stations. There will be no aid stations on the dirt sections of this ride. There will be two rest stops on the street portion of this route, one at mile 19 before you enter the Runkle Canyon Fire Road and the 2nd rest stop at mile 31 at the end of the dirt section of this ride (Long Canyon parking lot).

General Information

  1. This is not a race – it’s a fun ride!
  2. All bikes need some sort of bell to alert other trail users.
  3. Observing good trail etiquette is especially important during this ride.
  4. Bike gearing recommendations: Due to the steep sections of this ride it is recommended that your bike has a low gear < .94 (Chainring 34 T/ Sprocket 36 T) and tire .38mm or wider.

There will be a course cut-off time established for reaching the 1st rest stop (before the Runkle Canyon fire road). If you arrive at the rest stop after 10:00am – you will be asked to ride the road to the 2nd rest stop ILO starting Runkle Canyon.

Share the Road Ride Challenge

We will be holding a Starva Segment Challenge for the Gravel/MTB route called the Share the Road Ride Challenge. Riders must be a member of the Share the Road Ride Strava group to join and be registered for the event.  The rider with the fastest time on the listed segment (which is 4 miles long and features 1142 feet of  climbing) will win a mystery cycling goodie bag!
Ebike riders will not be eligible to win.
